CHILD KIDNAPPING INVESTIGATION NEAR HOLTS SUMMIT LEADS TO ARREST AND PROSECUTION OF OWENSVILLE, MO MAN FOR SEVERAL FELONY OFFENSES
Arrested person information:
Rodney Trentmann, 38, of Owensville, MO
On September 28, 2019, at approximately 11:06 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 11000 block of Brad Lane — just outside the city of Holts Summit — for a residential burglary and subsequent child kidnapping that had just occurred. The initial report to the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office provided an adult male had entered the residence, threatened the occupants, and subsequently removed a six year (6) year old child from the residence before fleeing the area with the child in a vehicle.
Due to the severity of the situation, the Holts Summit Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol immediately responded to assist Callaway County deputies. Upon the arrival of the initial arriving law enforcement officers, an extensive criminal investigation immediately ensued with measures taken to identity the suspect and suspect vehicle. Once the suspect was identified, law enforcement measures were then taken to immediately locate the suspect and child expeditiously.
At 12:21 AM (September 29, 2019), the suspect vehicle was located by state troopers in Gasconade County and stopped. There, the suspect and child were both located. The suspect, identified as Rodney Trentmann, 38, of Owensville, MO was arrested. The child was taken into protective custody. Callaway County Sheriff’s Office investigators subsequently traveled to Owensville, MO (in Gasconade County) and assumed custody of Trentmann there. Trentmann was later transferred to the Callaway County Jail.
On September 29, 2019, the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Trentmann with the felony offenses of Burglary 1st, Parental Kidnapping, and Stalking 1st. Trentmann was also charged with Assault 4th. Callaway County Associate Circuit Judge Carol England ordered Trentmann held without bond.
Sheriff Chism offers his appreciation to the Holts Summit Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Owensville Police Department, and Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office for their prompt assistance in this criminal investigation.
Additional charges and/or arrests are possible.
