Deputies arrest Mexico man for delivery of methamphetamine and failure to register as a sex offender after rural patrol

RURAL AREA PROACTIVE PATROLS LEAD TO ARREST FOR DELIVERY OF METH AND FAIL TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER

Arrested person information:  

Samuel Tarrants, 60, of Mexico, MO

Narrative:

On January 10, 2020, at approximately 9:49 p.m., a Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputy was conducting proactive patrols in northeast Callaway County.  During the patrol, the deputy stopped Samuel Tarrants, 60, of Mexico, MO for a traffic violation on State Road B near County Road 1019.

During the course of the traffic stop investigation, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia related to the sale of drugs was located.  Tarrants was subsequently arrested.  At the time of arrest, it was determined that Tarrants, whom is a registered sex offender, was not in compliance with the sex offender registration requirements as set forth by state law.

Tarrants was transported to the Callaway County Jail where he was booked/processed for felony Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Meth), felony Fail to Register as a Sex Offender, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – prior offender.  Tarrants is being held on $30,000 bond.
