Deputies arrest Columbia felon after lengthy pursuit of stolen vehicle

COLUMBIA FELON CAPTURED IN STOLEN VEHICLE AFTER LENGTHY VEHICLE PURSUIT

Arrested person information:  

Joseph Jenkins, 25, of Columbia, MO

Narrative:

On January 15, 2020, at approximately 3:05 PM, a Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputy was patrolling the Kingdom City area.  During the patrol, the deputy spotted a stolen vehicle from Columbia, MO at a business in the 3000 block of County Road 211.  As the vehicle left the business, the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle.  The vehicle driver, identified as Joseph Jenkins, 25, of Columbia, failed to stop and a lengthy pursuit entailed.

Jenkins ultimately traveled eastbound (north) US Highway 54, westbound Interstate 70, northbound State Road M, to westbound State Road E.  At the intersection of State Road E and State Road DD west of Hatton near the Audrain/Boone County line, Jenkins crashed the stolen vehicle into a ditch.  Jenkins then refused to exit the vehicle and was removed by deputies.

Jenkins was transported to the Callaway County Jail where he was booked/processed for Felony Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, Felony Resisting Arrest, Felony Property Damage, Stealing, and numerous traffic charges.  Jenkins is being held without bond pending a Court bond setting.

At the time of this incident, Jenkins was under the supervision of the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole for the felony offenses of Burglary 1st and Forgery.
