Deputies arrest 14 for various felonies during investigations around Callaway County

14 ADDITIONAL FELONY ARRESTS MADE FOR AN ARRAY OF CRIMINAL OFFENSES ACROSS THE COUNTY – PROACTIVE PATROLS CONTINUE

On June 29, 2021, at 3:14 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted an investigation in the area of State Road NN. During the course of the investigation, deputies located Leslie Cox, 39, of Fulton, MO.  Cox was wanted reference a Moniteau County warrant for felony charges of Sodomy/Attempted Sodomy and Incest.  Cox was arrested, transported to the Callaway County Jail, and later transferred to the custody of the Moniteau County Jail.

On June 29, 2021, at 10:01 AM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted an investigation in the 800 block of Jefferson Street in Fulton.  During the course of the investigation, deputies located Richard Smith Jr., 44, of Fulton, MO.  Smith was wanted reference a Callaway County warrant for Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Smith was arrested, transported to the Callaway County Jail, and remains in-custody pending bond post.

On June 26, 2021, at 12:42 AM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted an investigation in the 800 block of Jefferson Street in Fulton.  During the course of the investigation, deputies located Victoria Smith, 23, of Fulton, MO.  Smith was wanted reference a Callaway County warrant for Felony Tampering with a Motor Vehicle.  Smith was arrested, transported to the Callaway County Jail, and later posted bond.

On June 25, 2021, at 6:27 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies, assisted by the United States Forest Service Park Rangers, conducted an investigation in the area of County Road 361.  During the course of the investigation, a stolen vehicle, stolen firearm, and methamphetamine were located.  Jessica Conner, 23, of Hartsburg, MO was arrested and transported to the Callaway County Jail.  The Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Conner with the felony offenses of Receiving Stolen Property, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Conner remains in-custody pending bond post.

On June 25, 2021, at 12:41 PM, a Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputy was proactively patrolling the area of State Road D and State Road AB.  During the course of the patrol, the deputy spotted Christopher Batson, 36, of Portland, MO.  Batson was wanted reference a Benton County warrant for Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.  The deputy subsequently stopped and arrested Batson.  He was transported to the Callaway County Jail, booked/processed, and later released after posting bond.

On June 25, 2021, at 6:03 AM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies – assisted by the Fulton Police Department and the MUSTANG drug task force – executed a drug related search warrant at a residence in the 800 block of Jefferson Street, Fulton.  The search warrant had been obtained as the result of an ongoing Sheriff’s Office drug investigation.  Subsequently, methamphetamine was located.  Jaime Penn, 30, of Fulton, MO was arrested for Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Penn was transported to the Callaway County Jail, booked/processed, and later posted bond.

On June 23, 2021, at 10:23 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies, with the assistance of the Fulton Police Department, conducted a follow-up investigation (reference a felony theft in the Williamsburg area) in the 1000 block of Westminster Avenue, Fulton.  During the course of the investigation, deputies contacted Kaitlyn Wolfe, 29, of Fulton, MO.  Wolfe was found to be in possession of numerous controlled substances, including methamphetamine and crack cocaine. Additionally, a defaced firearm was located.  Wolfe was arrested and transported to the Callaway County Jail.  The Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Wolfe with Felony Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Defaced Firearm.  Wolfe is being held without bond, pending later Court bond review.

On June 20, 2021, at 1:20 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of County Road 108 for a reported burglary in progress.  A deputy was already in the area conducting proactive patrols and arrived in 90 seconds.  The deputy encountered Johnathon Thomas and took him into custody.  Thomas was found to be in possession of stolen property and numerous controlled substances, including methamphetamine and heroin.  Thomas was transported to the Callaway County Jail.  The Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Thomas with the felony offenses of Burglary, Stealing, Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Burglar Tools, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.  Thomas is being held without bond, pending later Court bond review.

On June 18, 2021, at 12:54 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted an investigation in the area of County Road 318.  During the course of the investigation, deputies encountered Julie Ballard, 39, of Williamsburg, MO.  Ballard was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.  Ballard was arrested and transported to the Callaway County Jail.  The Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Ballard with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Ballard later posted bond and was released pending Court appearance.

On June 18, 2021, at 6:08 AM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed a drug related search warrant at a residence on County Road 411.  The warrant had been obtained as the result of an ongoing Sheriff’s Office drug investigation.  Subsequently, methamphetamine and other controlled substances were located.  Jeffery Strickland, 46, of Fulton, MO was arrested and transported to the Callaway County Jail.  The Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Strickland with the felony offenses of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.  Strickland later posted bond and was released pending Court appearance.

On June 18, 2021, at 3:52 AM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted an investigation in the area of County Road 211.  During the course of the investigation, deputies encountered Levi Barela, 29, of Denver, CO.  Deputies determined Barela to be a wanted fugitive in the State of Colorado.  Additionally, deputies found Barela to be in possession of felony level controlled substances.  Barela was arrested, transported to the Callaway County Jail, and remains in-custody pending extradition to the State of Colorado.

On June 17, 2021, at 2:57 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies engaged in a vehicle pursuit led by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, which pursuit entered Callaway County.  Boone County deputies were pursuing Davy Rasa, 29, of Columbia, MO, a wanted fugitive reference felony charges.  A Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputy stationed on County Road 269 attempted to deploy tire deflation devices.  Rasa purposefully swerved at the deputy, nearly striking him with a vehicle.  The pursuit continued and ultimately ended on County Road 256 when Rasa stopped, fled on foot, and was captured as he displayed a knife toward deputies and assisting Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers.  Rasa was transported to the Boone County Jail where he remains in-custody.  The Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney has charged Rasa with the felony offenses of Assault on a Special Victim (law enforcement officer) and Resisting Arrest.

On June 17, 2021, at 1:13 AM, a Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputy was proactively patrolling County Road 230.  During the course of the proactive patrol, the deputy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.  Methamphetamine was subsequently discovered.  Sarah Grover, 38, of Columbia, MO was arrested for Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and transported to the Callaway County Jail.  Grover was later released with summons for Court appearance.

On June 11, 2021, at 3:36 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted an investigation in the area of County Road 144.  During the course of the investigation, deputies arrested Ryan Byrd, 25, of Fulton, MO reference a Boone County felony warrant for Stealing.  Byrd was transported to the Callaway County Jail, booked/processed, and later released after bond post.
