Two arrested for outstanding warrants after suspicious activity reported in the Guthrie area

Narrative: 

On July 12, 2017 at approximately 11:30 AM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies were patrolling the Guthrie area in response to recent reports of suspicious activity in the area.

During the Guthrie area patrol, deputies checked the nearby Mark Twain National Forest – Dry Fork Campground on County Road 361 for any activity there.  Upon conducting the check, deputies encountered Tara Latham, 37, of Jefferson City and David Latham, 42, of Jefferson City, in the campground.  The Latham’s had been identified as suspects in suspicious activity offenses occurring in the area.

Tara Latham was subsequently arrested for a Miller County NO BOND probation violation warrant and a Cole County felony warrant for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.  Tara was further found to be in possession of narcotics and booked / processed for a Callaway County offense of Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Tara remains incarcerated in the Callaway County Jail without bond.

David Latham was subsequently arrested for a Fulton PD traffic warrant and a Hawk Point PD traffic warrant.  David was also booked / processed for Trespassing (related to a July 9 suspicious activity report near Guthrie) and Identity Theft (for attempting to deceive deputies with a false identity).  David remains incarcerated in the Callaway County Jail on $1,367.50 bond.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges could be forthcoming.  NO FURTHER INFORMATION WILL BE RELEASED AT THIS TIME.
