Two arrested after felony theft investigation outside of Auxvasse

Michael Waters, 34, of Mexico

On July 27, 2017 at approximately 9:19 a.m. Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 4000 block of County Road 282 for a reported stealing.  The property owner reported interrupting a burglary where a felony amount of property was stolen from a barn in the area.  The property owner was able to obtain a license plate and a vehicle description.

Deputies located the vehicle parked at a residence on County Road 282.  During the course of the investigation Jeremy Smith and Michael Waters were arrested.

Both Smith and Waters were transported to the Callaway County Jail.  Smith remains in custody at the Callaway County Jail on charges of Burglary 2nd, Stealing over $750, Trespassing 1st and Attempted Stealing with a bond of $13500 and a NO BOND parole detainer warrant.

Waters was also arrested for Forgery from a previous Callaway County Sheriff’s Office investigation from May, 2017 in the Kingdom City area.  Waters remains in custody at the Callaway County Jail on charges of Stealing over $750, Trespassing 1st and Forgery with a bond of $9500.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges could be forthcoming.  NO FURTHER INFORMATION WILL BE RELEASED AT THIS TIME.
