On December 7, 2016 at 8:57 p.m., Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 10000 block of State Road BB near Tebbetts for a report of shots fired in the area. A vehicle description was obtained of the suspect vehicle and at approximately 9:12 p.m., a deputy located and stopped the suspect vehicle on State Road BB near US Highway 54 south of Fulton.
Deputies contacted the driver, Darren Schrimpf, 38, of Tebbetts. During the course of the traffic stop, a firearm and a felony level controlled substance (meth) were located. Also present in the vehicle during the traffic stop was a child.
Schrimpf was arrested and transported to the Callaway County Jail for related charges. On December 8, 2016, the Callaway County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges against Schrimpf for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (felon in possession), Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Schrimpf is currently being held on NO BOND in the Callaway County Jail awaiting court appearance.
According to Case.net, a public resource, Schrimpf has a previous felony conviction for receiving stolen property. Thus for, it is illegal for Schrimpf to possess a firearm under both state and federal law. Further information as to other pending cases may be accessed on Case.net.
