Saturday afternoon investigations ends up with two separate felony arrests

SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATIONS ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON NET TWO FELONY ARRESTS IN FULTON AND MOKANE AREAS

Arrested person information:

Ahtari Welch, 39, of St. Louis

Michael Schnieders, 29, of Tebbetts

Narrative:

The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office continues to handle numerous investigations while also conducting proactive patrols around the county.  These tasks are leading to numerous felony arrests as efforts continue to combat criminal activity across the county.

On March 2, 2019, at approximately 3:20 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Callaway County Jail staff conducted an investigation at the Callaway County Jail.  Ahtari Welch, 39, of St. Louis, MO had earlier been transported to the jail by an outside agency.  During the investigation, Welch was found to possess marijuana concealed on his person.  Deputies subsequently booked/processed Welch for an additional probable cause offense of Delivery/Possession of a Controlled Substance in a County Jail.  Welch later posted a *court set* bond of $4,500.00 and was released pending Court appearance.

Minutes later, at 3:56 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted an investigation in the 5000 block of State Road PP in the Mokane area.  During the course of the investigation, deputies came into contact with Michael Schnieders, 29, of Tebbetts.  It was determined that Schnieders was a wanted person reference a Callaway County felony warrant for probation violation (original charge of tampering with a motor vehicle).  Schnieders also had a Jefferson City municipal warrant for his arrest.  Schnieders was transported to the Callaway County Jail where he was booked/processed for the warrants.  Schnieders is being held on a *court set* bond of $1,130.00.
