Portland man arrested for multiple counts of assault after disturbance with a knife

Narrative: 

On May 21, 2017, the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Mitchell Byrne, 53, of Portland with Felony Assault 1st, Domestic Assault 3rd and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.  Byrne remains incarcerated in the Callaway County Jail on a bond of $50,000.

On May 20, 2017 at 10:53 p.m., Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a disturbance in the 10400 block of Highway 94 in Portland for reports that Byrne had allegedly attempted to stab two people with a knife.  One victim had minor injuries and declined medical treatment.

Deputies located and arrested Byrne for Felony Assault 1st, Domestic Assault 3rd and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.  Byrne was transported to a local hospital for injuries he sustained prior to deputies arrival and was ultimately released to the Jail.

The investigation is ongoing and NO FURTHER INFORMATION WILL BE RELEASED AT THIS TIME.
