Owensville man arrested for New Bloomfield UTV theft

On June 28, 2017 at 6:42 AM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a report of a stolen UTV from a private property near County Road 363 west of New Bloomfield.  Deputies followed-up on leads in the following days.

On June 30, 2017 at 5:42 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies followed up on a lead that the UTV was seen in the area of the 8000 block of State Road BB northeast of New Bloomfield.  Upon following-up in the area, deputies encountered Zane Knehans with a UTV.  A check of the VIN determined that the UTV was the same UTV stolen from County Road 363.  During an interview, Knehans admitted involvement in the original theft of the UTV.

Knehans was arrested and released to the Callaway County Jail for a probable cause charge of Felony Theft of a Motor Vehicle, where he remains incarcerated pending the posting of a $4,500.00 bond.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges could be forthcoming.  NO FURTHER INFORMATION WILL BE RELEASED AT THIS TIME.
