Narrative:

On August 16, 2017, the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Jonathan Bell, 51, of New Bloomfield with the felony offense of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender – 3rd offense.

The charge was the result of a Callaway County Sheriff’s Office investigation conducted on August 15, 2017.  Information had been received that Bell, a registered sex offender, had failed to properly notify the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office of a residential move, as required by state law.  Bell was arrested by deputies on that date.

Bell remains in the Callaway County Jail on a court ordered bond of $10,000.00.

Bell is required to register as a sex offender due to a past sexual assault conviction, in 2008, in Colorado.  Bell has previous convictions in Callaway and Phelps counties for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges could be forthcoming.  NO FURTHER INFORMATION WILL BE RELEASED AT THIS TIME.
