Iowa registered sex offender arrested for child sex crimes in Callaway County after Sheriff’s Office investigation

STATE OF IOWA REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED FOR CHILD SEX CRIMES IN CALLAWAY COUNTY AFTER SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATION

Arrested person information:

David Dodds, 58, of Corydon, Iowa

Narrative: 

On June 19, 2020, the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged David Dodds, 58, of Corydon, Iowa with five (5) felony counts of Sexual Misconduct with a Child less than 15 years old.  Dodds is a registered sex offender in the State of Iowa based on prior convictions.

The aforementioned charges are the result of an extensive investigation conducted by the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Wayne County, Iowa Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation was initiated by the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office in March, 2020, upon learning of Dodds’ contact with a child victim in Callaway County.  Subsequently, a Callaway County Sheriff’s Office investigator traveled to Iowa on June 19, 2020, leading to the arrest of Dodds by the Wayne County, Iowa Sheriff’s Office on that date.

On July 2, 2020, Dodds was extradited from the State of Iowa to the Callaway County Jail where he remains in-custody without bond, pending further Court bond review and assessment.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
