Illinois man charged with felony assault after injuring correction officer at the Callaway County Jail

Shaun Rose, 31, of East St. Louis, Illinois

Narrative:

On January 29, 2019, Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Wilson charged Shaun Rose, 31, of East St. Louis, Illinois with the criminal offenses of Felony Assault 3rd and Assault 4th.
The aforementioned charges are the result of an incident in the Callaway County Jail on January 27, 2019. Rose had been transferred to the Callaway County Jail from the Missouri Department of Corrections for a pending Court hearing at the Callaway County Courthouse on January 28, 2019. On January 27, 2019, two corrections officers were attempting to escort Rose within the county jail when Rose vigorously attacked the officers. One of the officers was transported to a local hospital, treated for injuries sustained during the attack, and later released.

Rose has since been returned to the Missouri Department of Corrections.

According to Case.net, a public resource, Rose’s other pending criminal case in Callaway County involves a felony assault that occurred at the Missouri Department of Corrections — Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center on July 9, 2016. Rose also has a previous felony assault conviction in St. Francois County, MO on April 20, 2018.
