On June 27, 2017 at 7:19 a.m., Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 6700 block of Old US Highway 40 east of Kingdom City.  Local citizens reported a suspicious person, on-foot, in the area who’d been witnessed attempting to break into a business structure.

A Callaway County deputy arrived to the area at 7:27 a.m. and encountered the suspect, later identified as David Schuenemeyer, on foot near a business structure.  As the deputy approached, Schuenemeyer fled on-foot, leading the deputy on a foot chase through fields and woods.  Several other county deputies, along with troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded, and established a search perimeter in the immediate area.  As a precaution, due to the close proximity to the North Callaway High School and North Callaway T-Bird Learning Center (early childhood program), school district officials were contacted so they could secure the school buildings, per their established protocols.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded with K-9 units to assist with the search.  At 8:27 a.m., a Callaway County deputy and a Boone County K-9 unit came upon Schuenemeyer hiding within the search perimeter.  Schuenemeyer was taken into custody without incident.

Schuenemeyer was transported to the Callaway County Jail and booked / processed for Burglary 2nd, Possession of Burglar Tools, Felony Resisting Arrest, and Property Damage.  Schuenemeyer remains in custody pending the posting of $8,000.00 bond.

Information as to past criminal charges involving Schuenemeyer can be accessed via, a public resource.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges could be forthcoming.  NO FURTHER INFORMATION WILL BE RELEASED AT THIS TIME.
