Fulton man leaves scene of a motor vehicle accident, flees from Deputies

Date:  May 24, 2017

Arrested person information:

Aaron J. Lamons, 31, of Fulton

Reporting officer:  Lt. Curtis Hall

On May 23, 2017 at approximately 9:53 p.m., a Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputy was flagged down in Kingdom City by a witness regarding a motor vehicle accident that had just occurred.  The witness reported that one of the vehicles, a white mini-van with front-in damage, fled the scene.

The deputy located the mini-van near the US Highway 54 and Old Highway 54 intersection north of Kingdom City and attempted to stop the mini-van.  The driver refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued on Old Highway 54 where the vehicle lost control several times and eventually became disabled south of Auxvasse.

Deputies, assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, took the driver, identified Aaron Lamons, into custody at approximately 9:59 p.m.  Based on evidence collected from the vehicle and the observations of Lamons, it was believed Lamons was intoxicated.  Lamons was uncooperative and made several threats to find law enforcement off-duty and physically assault them.  Lamons allegedly refused a breath test and a search warrant was obtained for a blood sample.  Lamons was taken to an area hospital where a blood draw was collected and Lamons was released to the Callaway County Jail.

Lamons remains in custody on NO BOND for Driving While Intoxicated, Felony Resisting Arrest, Operating a Motor Vehicle in a Careless and Imprudent manner involving an accident, Felony Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident, Driving While Suspended, Failure to yield to emergency vehicle and other charges.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated the original motor vehicle accident. Both the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Auxvasse Police Department provided assistance with the vehicle pursuit.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges could be forthcoming.  NO FURTHER INFORMATION WILL BE RELEASED AT THIS TIME.

End of press release.
