Deputy pursues armed felon on foot after traffic stop outside of Auxvasse

ARMED FELON ARRESTED AFTER FOOT PURSUIT WEST OF AUXVASSE

Arrested person information: 

Harold Smith, 53, of Auxvasse

Narrative:

On March 29, 2018 at approximately 12:30 PM, a Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputy was patrolling County Road 262 west of Auxvasse.  During the patrol, the deputy attempted to stop Harold Smith, 53, of Auxvasse for traffic violations.

Smith ultimately attempted to elude the deputy on a private driveway and then fled the vehicle on foot.  A foot pursuit ensued and Smith was taken into custody a short time later.  It was determined Smith was in possession of a loaded firearm within the vehicle.  Smith is prohibited from possessing firearm(s) by state and federal law due to past felony convictions.

Smith was transported to the Callaway County Jail where he is being held on a COURT SET $7,000.00 bond for the probable cause offenses of Felony Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Felon in Possession), Felony Resisting Arrest, Driving While Revoked, and Trespassing.
