DEPUTIES RECOVER LARGE QUANTITY OF DRUGS AFTER VEHICLE PURSUIT AND CRASH ON US HIGHWAY 54

On February 11, 2020, at approximately 11:54 AM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to stop a vehicle at the US Highway 54 – Interstate 70 interchange in Kingdom City reference a traffic violation.
The vehicle driver, identified as Sean Kennard, 29, of Jefferson City fled deputies; fleeing on westbound (southbound) US Highway 54 through Kingdom City and Fulton. Kennard exited US Highway 54 at the State Road H interchange at the south city limits of Fulton. There, Kennard crashed and rolled the vehicle several times, coming to rest over a steep embankment.
Kennard exited and fled the vehicle on foot. Deputies gave chase, including Sheriff’s Office K9 Iro. Upon Kennard seeing K9 Iro nearing his location, he surrendered to deputies.
A vehicle passenger, Johnnie Simms, 43, of Jefferson City, also fled the vehicle on foot and was captured by pursuing deputies.
During the course of the investigation, a large quantity of drugs was located including cocaine, ecstasy, and marijuana. The estimated, combined street value of the recovered drugs is approximately $10,000.
Kennard was transported to the Callaway County Jail where he was booked/processed for several felony offenses including Trafficking Drugs, Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and Resisting Arrest. Kennard is being held without bond, pending a Court bond review and setting.
Simms was transported to the University Hospital in Columbia by Callaway County EMS for injuries sustained as a result of the vehicle crash. Simms was issued summons for later Court appearance.
