Deputies, assisted by Sheriff’s Office K9, make six drug arrests in 24 hours during patrols

** DEPUTIES CONTINUE TO MAKE MULTIPLE DRUG ARRESTS DURING PATROLS OF RURAL CALLAWAY COUNTY **

Narrative: 

In just over 24 hours, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office proactive deputy patrols throughout rural Callaway County have resulted in six drug arrests.

On December 1, 2017 at 9:12 p.m., a Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputy was patrolling the Auxvasse area.  The deputy conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of US Highway 54 and State Road E/B near Auxvasse.  During the course of the traffic stop, the deputy came into contact with Justin Mitchell, 28, of Mexico.  The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit responded to assist.  Subsequently, Mitchell was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Unlawful Use of Drug Paraphernalia.  Mitchell was transported to the Callaway County Jail and was later released pending court appearance.

On December 1, 2017 at 10:19 p.m., the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit was patrolling the Kingdom City area.  The K9 unit conducted a traffic stop and subsequently contacted multiple subjects; identified as, Patricia Cannella, 54, of Fulton; Scott Grant, 35, of Kingdom City; Darren Yancey, 29, of Kingdom City; and Ridge Clevenger, 21, of Columbia.  As a result of the traffic stop investigation, all four subjects were arrested for drug related offenses.  Canella was arrested for Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and remains in custody at the Callaway County Jail pending a court set bond of $5,000.00.  Grant, Yancey, and Clevenger were arrested for Unlawful Use of Drug Paraphernalia, transported to the Callaway County Jail, and released pending court appearance.

On December 2, 2017 at 10:24 a.m., a Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputy was patrolling the New Bloomfield area.  The deputy conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of County Road 371 and County Road 372.  During the traffic stop, the deputy came into contact with Levi Polacek, 21, of New Bloomfield.  Subsequently, Polacek was arrested for Possession of Marijuana.  Polacek was transported to the Callaway County Jail and was later released pending court appearance.

*** Callaway County deputies continue work with other law enforcement agencies and community partners to curb drug abuse throughout the county, which so many times lead to other offenses such as burglary and stealing. ***
