SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATION OF MULTIPLE THEFTS LEADS TO THE ARREST OF THREE COUNTY RESIDENTS FOR STEALING AND DRUG CHARGES — MULTIPLE ITEMS RECOVERED

On July 13, 2018, the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Russell Barnes, 33, of Fulton with the FELONY offenses of Stealing (four counts) and Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree. Russell Barnes is being held in the Callaway County Jail on a court-set bond of $25,000.00. Russell Barnes was arrested by Callaway County deputies on July 13, 2018.
On July 13, 2018, the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Russell Barnes Sr., 56, of Fulton with the FELONY offense of Stealing (four counts). Russell Barnes Sr. is being held in the Callaway County Jail on a court-set bond of $20,000.00. Russell Barnes Sr. was arrested by Callaway County deputies on July 12, 2018.
A third subject, Alvin Barnes, 25, of Fulton was also arrested by Callaway County deputies on July 12, 2018. Alvin Barnes was arrested for FELONY Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of an Illegal Weapon. Alvin Barnes later posted a court-set bond of $5,500.00.
All three arrests are the result of an extensive investigation by the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office regarding numerous theft offenses across Callaway County; offenses involving the theft of trailers, ATV’s, farm equipment, and other items.
On July 12, 2018, over the course of several hours, Callaway County deputies obtained and executed two search warrants at a property in the 3000 block of County Road 328 south of Fulton. During the search warrant execution, deputies recovered several thousand dollars worth of items that had been stolen around the county; namely in the Fulton, New Bloomfield, and Holts Summit area.
Furthermore, while proactively patrolling the Fulton and New Bloomfield area during the morning hours of July 10, 2018, deputies had recovered a stolen ATV along County Road 328 that is related to the aforementioned investigation.
Callaway County deputies continue to investigate and further arrest(s) are possible.
