NEW FRANKLIN RESIDENTS ARRESTED FOR BURGLARY AND VEHICLE THEFT NEAR CALWOOD

On August 17, 2020, at approximately 7:48 AM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of County Road 144 east of Calwood regarding a suspicious activity incident. Later investigation revealed a burglary offense had occurred at a nearby residence.
As a Callaway County deputy arrived to the area, he soon after observed the suspect vehicle. The deputy attempted to stop the suspect vehicle. The driver, Timothy Hicks, 39, of New Franklin, MO fled and a vehicle pursuit ensued. Hicks subsequently crashed the vehicle on County Road 142. Hicks fled on foot and was captured by deputies who gave chase.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned a second suspect; Taija George, 26, of New Franklin, MO was possibly in the area on foot (she was not in the vehicle pursued by deputies). At approximately 2:45 PM, deputies received a stolen vehicle report on County Road 144.
Later in the evening, at approximately 8:16 PM, the stolen vehicle was located in the 2000 block of Old Highway 54 south of Auxvasse. George was found on-foot nearby the stolen vehicle and arrested.
Hicks remains in-custody at the Callaway County Jail for felony charges of Burglary and Resisting Arrest pending $25,000 bond.
George remains in-custody at the Callaway County Jail for felony charges of Tampering with a Motor Vehicle and Stealing pending $9,000 bond.
