Deputies arrest two Fulton women for felony offenses after child abuse investigation

PROSECUTING ATTORNEY CHARGES TWO FULTON WOMEN WITH FELONY OFFENSES AFTER SHERIFF’S OFFICE CHILD ABUSE INVESTIGATION

Hayleigh Mertell, 24, of Fulton

Samantha Strahl, 38, of Fulton

On October 3, 2019, the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Hayleigh Mertell, 24, of Fulton with the felony offenses of Statutory Rape 2nd and Statutory Sodomy 2nd.  Mertell is being held in the Callaway County Jail pending $15,000 bond.

The aforementioned charges are the result of a criminal investigation conducted by the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office near Fulton on October 2, 2019.  On that date, Callaway County deputies arrested Mertell.

On October 3, 2019, the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Samantha Strahl, 38, of Fulton with the felony offense of Endangering the Welfare of a Child 1st.  Strahl was arrested by Callaway County deputies, booked/processed at the Callaway County Jail, and later released on $4,500 bond.  This charge was filed in relation to the same investigation that involved Mertell.

The investigation is continuing and further arrests/charges are possible.
