Deputies arrest three for child sex offenses after Sheriff Office’s investigations

THREE ARRESTED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES AFTER SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATIONS

Jarrad Vandergrift, 37, of New Bloomfield

Narrative:

On May 2, 2019, Tommy Smith Jr., 34, of Jefferson City was indicted by the Callaway County Grand Jury for three felony counts of Statutory Rape 1st and three felony counts of Statutory Sodomy 1st. The charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrested Smith Jr. in Jefferson City and transported him to the Callaway County Jail. Smith Jr. remains in-custody without bond, per judge’s order.

On May 2, 2019, Marvin Ridgel, 48, of New Bloomfield was indicted by the Callaway County Grand Jury for two felony counts of Statutory Rape 1st. The charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrested Ridgel in Fulton and transported him to the Callaway County Jail. Ridgel is being held on $50,000 bond.

On May 9, 2019, the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Jarrad Vandergrift, 37, of New Bloomfield with the felony offenses of Child Molestation (three counts), Statutory Sodomy (three counts), and Statutory Rape. The charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrested Vandergrift near New Bloomfield and transported him to the Callaway County Jail. Vandergrift remains in-custody without bond, per judge’s order.
