Deputies arrest parole absconder during investigation near Stephens

SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATION IN STEPHENS NETS WANTED PAROLE VIOLATOR

Arrested person information:  

John Garrett, 26, of Columbia, MO

Narrative:

On December 11, 2019, at approximately 6:53 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted an investigation in the 1500 block of County Road 276 in Stephens.  During the course of the investigation, deputies encountered John Garrett, 26, of Columbia.  Garrett initially refused to identify himself.  Upon deputies confirming Garrett’s identity, it was determined he was wanted by the Missouri Department of Corrections (MDOC) for state parole violations.

Garrett was arrested and transported to the Callaway County Jail.

According to Case.net, a state Court public resource, Garrett was convicted of Burglary in Warren County.  In February, 2017, Garrett was sentenced to MDOC for six (6) years; however he was released by MDOC on parole prior to the sentence completion.

NO FURTHER INFORMATION WILL BE RELEASED AT THIS TIME.
