Deputies assisted by K9 Iro locate federal fugitive hiding under residence outside of Hatton

DEPUTIES (with K9 IRO) ARREST WANTED FEDERAL FUGITIVE HIDING UNDER A RESIDENCE NEAR HATTON

Arrested person information:

Jay Hager, 29, of Montgomery City, MO

Narrative: 

On June 16, 2020, at approximately 8:35 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies, assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, arrived to a residence in the 1800 block of Stephanie Court near Hatton to conduct a fugitive investigation.  Callaway County deputies had garnered credible information that Jay Hager, a wanted federal fugitive, was inside the residence.  Hager was wanted reference a federal warrant for firearms violations.

Numerous deputies and state troopers surrounded the residence to maintain a perimeter while a Callaway County search warrant was obtained.  Upon receipt of the search warrant and entry into the residence, deputies and troopers located a large hole in the residence floor.  Upon deputies and troopers, with the assistance of Sheriff’s Office K9 Iro, conducting a search under the residence, Hager was located concealed therein.

Hager was transported to the Callaway County Jail.  On June 17, 2020, Hager was transferred to the custody of the United States Marshal’s Service.
