Callaway County Prosecutor files felony assault and armed criminal action charges after deputies investigate disturbance outside of Fulton

FELONY ASSAULT AND WEAPONS CHARGES FILED BY PROSECUTOR AFTER SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATION ON NORTH MEADOW DRIVE

Narrative: 

On June 7, 2018, Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney Christopher D. Wilson charged Daniel Brown, 33, of Fulton with the felony offenses of Assault 2nd (two counts) and Armed Criminal Action.  Brown is being held in the Callaway County Jail on a court-set bond of $70,000.00 cash.  The charges are the result of a Callaway County Sheriff’s Office investigation, outlined below.

On June 6, 2018 at 7:44 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported disturbance involving weapons on North Meadow Drive south of Fulton.  Deputies were advised that multiple victims had been injured.  Upon the arrival of deputies; two victims were located, both of whom suffered head injuries as the result of being struck by a baseball bat.  Both victims were transported to the University Hospital in Columbia by Callaway County EMS.

Deputies identified Daniel Brown as the suspect.  Brown was later taken into custody without incident by deputies.

Later in the night, during the follow-up investigation, a search warrant was subsequently executed at a residence in the 7000 block of North Meadow Drive where further evidence of the assault was located and seized.

The investigation is ongoing.  NO FURTHER INFORMATION WILL BE RELEASED AT THIS TIME.
