PROSECUTING ATTORNEY CHARGES SCHOOL STAFF MEMBER WITH FELONY CHILD ENTICEMENT OFFENSE

Arrested person information:

Davonte Kyles, 23, of Columbia, MO

Narrative:

On April 30, 2019, the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Davonte Kyles, 23, of Columbia, MO with the felony offense of Enticement / Attempted Enticement of a Child.  Kyles was arrested by Callaway County Sheriff’s Office investigators on April 29, 2019 at 3:15 PM.  Kyles remains in-custody at the Callaway County Jail pending a $40,000.00 bond.

The aforementioned charge is the result of a criminal investigation conducted by the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office at the Auxvasse Elementary School (North Callaway R-1 School District).

The investigation was initiated on April 26, 2019 when information was garnered that Kyles, a staff member at the school, had allegedly engaged in inappropriate contact with a student at the school.  An extensive investigation thereafter by Sheriff’s Office investigators led to the subsequent arrest and charge filing.  The investigation is ongoing, further charges are possible, and no further information is being released to protect the integrity of the continuing criminal investigation.

The Sheriff wishes for the community to know; upon the school administration learning of the information, they acted swiftly to ensure an appropriate investigation ensued.  The administration has continued to offer their complete assistance to investigators.  While situations as this are many times difficult for community members to understand and digest, it seems prudent for the community to know, once the information was gathered, school administration immediately contacted law enforcement and implemented measures to ensure the safety of the students.

NO FURTHER INFORMATION WILL BE RELEASED AT THIS TIME.

End of media release.
