Auxvasse Police Department and deputies locate fugitive hiding under a residence in Auxvasse

CALLAWAY DEPUTIES AND AUXVASSE OFFICERS CAPTURE FUGITIVE HIDING UNDER RESIDENCE

Arrested person information:

Michael Smith, 27, of Auxvasse

Narrative:

On March 7, 2019, at 4:10 PM, Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Auxvasse Police Department officers responded to the 800 block of Manor Drive in Auxvasse for a reported disturbance in progress.

Upon arrival to the scene, officers learned that Michael Smith, 27, of Auxvasse had fled prior to officer arrival.  Smith was a wanted fugitive in Cooper County for felony assault.  A Cooper County arrest warrant had been issued for Smith’s arrest.

During a search for Smith — in which the Sheriff’s Office K9 unit was responding to assist– officers subsequently found Smith hiding under a residence.  Once being advised of the K9 unit’s imminent arrival; Smith surrendered, was taken into custody, and transported to the Callaway County Jail.  Smith is being held on a *court set* bond of $10,000.00.
